Porcupine fish
Today we got to look at a real porcupine fish. We were pretty excited and some of us were a little scared!
We talked about why it has spines and Solomon was keen to tell us that they are to protect it from other fish and sharks(have a look at the video on the left of our blog). Here is a video of Solomon telling us what he knows about puffer fish.
After all that the children thought it would be fun to pretend to be puffer fish. Bill was the shark and when he came near us we had to puff up to scare him away! Lucky for us it worked!
Alice drew this picture of the puffer fish on kid pix.
We'd love to hear what you know about porcupine fish, please leave us a comment.

What can jump?
Here is a clip of Jerome reading a part of the book 'What can jump?'. Jerome has been working hard on his fluency and expression. I think he is doing a great job! Have a listen and tell us what you think.

Rabbit Poo. By Yvon
This is based on a true story although some of it is made up. Which parts do you think are true? Was Miss Lepou sleeping at school? Or did Stu poo on the bean bag? Here is a hint . . . Stu was being very naughty today and he had to be put to bed early.
Cooking. By Bill
Bill is new to our class and this is his first ever post! I think he did a great job! Keep up the awesome work Bill!

Our thoughts on the cats
After drawing our pictures of the cats a few of the children wanted to share their ideas about the cats. Some of the children had ideas about what the cats might do, while others wanted to share how they would look after the cats, and what they might do with the cats when they get here. Have a listen to their ideas. What are your thoughts about the cats?
Cats
A3 heard that our school cats would be arriving soon. We decided to draw some pictures of what we think they might look like. Have a look:

Sharing our languages
On Friday Alice read us a poem in Mandarin. We thought it was great and after Alice had finished lots of the children wanted to share the other languages that they knew as well. Here is a video of the children sharing their languages.

The Rabbit by Alex
Alex wrote a story about our rabbit. This is the first time the chidren have filmed themeselves! I think they did a great job. The children said that next time they would try to get all of Alex's face in the video!
Alex read his story to the rabbit to help it feel more at home. Here is a photo of Alex reading the story to the rabbit.

Stu has arrived!
We got our rabbit yesterday, it was very exciting. He is very shy at the moment and needs to stay in his cage until he gets to know us. We can't wait until we can take him for walks! We have made a page to keep everybody up to date with stu's adventures. You can get to it by clicking on the adventures of stu link on the top left hand side of the blog. Here are some pictures of stu, you can see more on our rabbit page.

Weaving with flax
Last Wednesday Solomon's Mum came into our class to teach us how to weave with flax. We made a strong rope like the one Maui used to catch the sun.

Slowing down the sun. By Yvon
Guess who's coming to A block!!!
Today a hutch appeared in our school. We were in our classroom reading and when we came out for lunch we saw it outside H block. It's empty now, but we think it might be for our new rabbit, Stu. We heard he might be here on Wednesday in his pyjamas (ready for our pyjama party!). What sort of pyjamas do rabbits wear? We can't wait to meet Stu!
Here is the hutch but where is the rabbit?
